World Championship sponsor Betfred is set to donate £25,000 to WST’s official charity Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home, following the 80th century break of the tournament which was made today by Mark Williams.
Before the tournament at the Crucible Theatre started, Betfred pledged £200 for every century break, to be rounded up to £25,000 if the ton tally reached 80. Amazingly, that target has been hit with seven days of the event still to be played.
The massive £25,000 donation will help pay for the incredible work done by the charity, which provides a hospice at home service for terminally ill children, offering care to families in the South West area. For more information about Jessie May visit www.jessiemay.org.uk
The record for the most centuries in the tournament is 100, set in 2019. With almost a week to go, that record could be beaten by May 3rd.
