Sam Craigie qualified for the final stages of the BetVictor English Open by beating former World Champion Graeme Dott 4-3 in a superb match which featured two centuries and five more breaks over 50.

So far this season, Craigie has won all three of his BetVictor Home Nations Series first round matches by a 4-3 scoreline, and can look forward to a trip to Brentwood in Essex in December.

Dott took the opening frame with a run of 68 then Craigie responded with 112 and 100 to lead 2-1. A run of 54 saw Dott level the match, before Craigie took a 57-minute fifth frame, helped by a break of 56. Larkhall’s Dott made a 77 for 3-3 but Craigie, from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, dominated the decider with runs of 54 and 34.

Anthony McGill also scored an impressive 4-3 success, coming from 3-1 down to beat David Grace thanks to breaks of 76, 82 and 66 in the last three frames.

Ricky Walden top scored with 103 in a 4-1 defeat of Bai Langning while David Gilbert made breaks of 75, 83 and 132 in a 4-2 win over Mohamed Ibrahim. BetVictor Welsh Open champion Joe Perry suffered a 4-1 defeat against Cao Yupeng.
