Fans coming to the Crucible for the Betfred World Championship, this is your key information:
CHECKLIST – you will need to bring:
A text message or email confirming a negative lateral flow test result
Photographic identification, which you’ll produce alongside your test result
An email response confirming your consent – each spectator must consent to participate in the Government’s Events Research Programme, please follow this link, and bring a copy of your confirmation receipt
A valid E-Ticket (please check your junk folder if you have not received this within 4 days of your visit)
Code of Conduct
A code of conduct for the event is provided here which provides further guidance on hygiene, travel as well as other important information for the day. You must adhere to this during your attendance at the event.
Rapid Lateral Flow Test
Prior to attending the event, you must take a COVID-19 rapid lateral flow test at a Local Authority Asymptomatic Testing Site close to where you live or work. If you are travelling from outside of Sheffield, please take this test prior to travelling.

The Sheffield Hallam testing facility will be open as a minimum Mon – Fri: 09:20 am – 12:20pm, 1:30pm – 4:50pm. Sat, Sun: 10am – 2pm. Further information on how COVID-19 testing works at Sheffield Hallam can be found here. Over the first weekend (Sat 17 April and Sun 18 April), opening times have been extended to 09:00am – 2:30pm. We have also arranged a further testing facility at the Crucible Theatre, to provide a limited number of tests between 5:00pm and 7:00pm on Sat 17 April and Sun 18 April, as the Sheffield Hallam site is closed, for those who have exhausted all other options and still require a test.
Audience participation in this event is possible as it is part of the Event Research Programme (ERP) and will support the phased return of fuller audiences to venues and events. In order to collect the important evidence required to support the return of audiences we request that all participants undertake both a pre and post event PCR test in addition to the lateral flow test referenced above.
This PCR test is requested for research purposes and proof of this test is not required in order to gain entry into the Crucible Theatre. It is only proof of the Lateral Flow test that will be required in order to gain entry.

Click ‘Start Now’ under the title ‘Get a free PCR test’ then click ‘No’ when it asks if you are an essential worker, scroll down the next screen and click ‘Continue’. On the next screen click ‘No, none of these symptoms’ unless you do have symptoms in which you should not proceed with attendance at this event and you should seek further medical advice. On the next screen click ‘No’ as the answer to have you been asked to get a follow-up test then ‘Continue’. Then click ‘Yes’ to Is the person who needs a test part of a trial or government pilot project, for example, attending an event that is part of the Events Research Programme, then ‘Continue’. Then click ‘The person is attending an event that is part of the Events Research Programme. Please be aware that this is a separate request to the COVID-19 rapid lateral flow test required for your entry into the Crucible Theatre.
Each attendee must provide Photo ID in order to be admitted to the Crucible. You will need to show this alongside your negative test result. In the event that you are not able to provide this you will not be able to enter and will be offered a refund.
Arrival at the Crucible
Please arrive at Crucible no earlier than 1 hour 30 minutes before, but in good time ahead of the session start time as checks on test proof, consent confirmation, ticket checks and bag checks will be expected to take some time. You will be held in Tudor Square until the time comes for us to safely admit you into the Crucible for your session.
Test and Trace
On entry to the Crucible, all spectators will scan the QR Code and ‘check in’ using the NHS App. Please download this App in advance of your visit if you do not already have it.
Food and Drink
It will not be possible to purchase food and drink once inside the venue. You are permitted to bring snacks and non-alcoholic drinks (with a sealed top) with you in your bag. Please do not bring glass bottles or hot food.
Our Restaurant and Bar on Tudor Square is open for table service on the outdoor terrace from 9am until 9pm, serving Breakfast Sandwiches from 9am until 11am and the Main Menu from 11am. Please note that alcohol service starts at 11am. Book your table here.
The cloakroom will not be open so please do not bring any bags that you cannot keep on your person, ideally no larger than A3 in size.
