The European Masters heads to Germany for the first time this season as Furth hosts the first knockout ranking event of the campaign.

Fan Zhengyi is the defending champion after his stunning win in Milton Keynes last year, beating Ronnie O’Sullivan in the final after coming into the event as a 750/1 shot.

Jimmy Robertson claimed this title in 2018 and recent finalists have included Zhou Yuelong and Martin Gould, so upsets are on the cards in this one, especially early in the season with top players not at their sharpest.

We have already had most of the first round, with the qualifying stage held in Leicester, where the likes of John Higgins and Stephen Maguire fell early. While Ronnie O’Sullivan is out through injury and Neil Robertson did not enter.
