The new snooker season is underway and bit names are involved in the very first event, with Judd Trump and Ronnie O’Sullivan the bookmakers’ favourites for the Championship League.

The first tournament of the campaign is a lengthy one, with the Championship League played over three group stages before a final on 29 July.

Dave Gilbert is the defending champion and the short format matches are liable to create unpredictable winners, but it is obviously the sport’s biggest stars who are shortest priced with the bookies.

The men who contested the World Championship final in May have the very shortest prices, although it is runner-up Trump who is favoured ahead of world champ O’Sullivan.

Not every top player is involved, with the likes of Neil Robertson and John Higgins not playing, but Mark Selby, Zhao Xintong and Mark Williams also fancied to do well.

Free Sports will be showing the event live on TV in the UK, with streaming available on Matchroom.Live and Table 2 coverage on Matchroom Multi Sport’s YouTube.
