Ronnie O’Sullivan claims that he doesn’t care whether he wins his World Championship semi-final or not, but is also ‘absolutely devastated’ that the snooker season is coming to an end.

The Rocket is taking on John Higgins in the Crucible semi-final, with the game nicely poised at 4-4 after the first session on Thursday.

Speaking after that first stanza in Sheffield, the six-time world champion said he is completely unfussed whether he wins or loses against his old rival, claiming that he enjoys himself regardless of result.

‘I don’t actually care to be honest with you, I’m just here to enjoy myself,’ O’Sullivan told Eurosport during the match.

‘If I got beat 17-4 I’m just going to have fun, enjoy it. That’s my motto, life has to be good, life has to be fun, it’s just a game of snooker. I’m delighted to be here, there’s not much more I can say to that.

‘Even if it’s absolutely horrendous, I’m still having fun. I’m just on a holiday 365 days a year. Every day’s a holiday. It’s great when you can treat everything like a holiday it’s a fantastic thing.

‘I don’t give a monkey’s. The last seven years I’ve not cared, in a nice way. I’m just here to play, have fun and if I win great, if I lose I can get over it.’

Despite saying he doesn’t care about the result against the Wizard, O’Sullivan said he does not want his World Championship campaign to end and is considering staying in Sheffield for the World Seniors Championship next month.

‘The holiday continues, I’m having fun, I don’t actually want it to end to be honest with you,’ he continued.

‘The Seniors is on next week so I’m thinking about coming back down for that.

‘I just don’t want to go home, I’m quite frustrated. I’ve looked at the calendar and there’s just not enough tournaments.

‘I’m absolutely devastated, to be honest with you.’
