Ronnie O'Sullivan fined over rude gestures caught by TV cameras while live on air

Snooker's resident rockstar and current World Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan has been hit in the pocket after he was found guilty of making rude gestures on live TV.

The Rocket was found guilty of making the gestures during televised matched at last seasons UK and World Championships. And at a WPBSA disciplinary hearing, the current World No1 has been found breached the players contract.

O’Sullivan was ordered to pay a £2,000 fine and £2,000 in fixed costs for the hearing. The Rocker has denied the allegations at the hearing, and he has the right to appeal the decision.

A WPBSA statement read: “After a WPBSA Disciplinary Committee hearing before an independent tribunal on 16th September 2022, Ronnie O’Sullivan was found to have breached the WPBSA Conduct Regulations and his players contract.

“The allegation was that the Player had made a lewd and offensive gesture on two separate occasions in televised matches at the UK Championship 2021 and World Championship 2022.”

Ronnie O'Sullivan is well known for his cheeky nature

O'Sullivan has been previously fined for offensive gestures.

At the 2013 World Championship the Chigwell ace was warned by referee Michaela Tabb after placing his cue between his legs and running his hand up it.

In 2008, he was fined £2,750 and docked 700 ranking points for talking about his genitals after being annoyed at the length of time it took to translate his answers at the China Open.
