Snooker king Ronnie O’Sullivan made headlines over the years for his booze and drug antics as well as his skills at the table.
But aged 45, and now a grandad, the current world champ has welcomed a philosophical approach to life.
Fiancé Laila Rouass is behind the change.
The Holby City star has been researching methods and teachings of the Buddha and Greek philosophers as part of her wellbeing studies, writes The Mirror.
She says Ronnie has bought into the idea and is calmer as a result.
The nights of living it up with Ronnie Wood and Liam Gallagher are now gone.
The former Footballers’ Wives actress is now setting up a workshop, a website and an Instagram page to help others feeling the stresses of lockdown.
Laila, 49, says her other half is more likely to be found tucked up in bed for an early night with a cup of green tea.
The actress, who has been with the snooker star for nine years, said: “I did the course but he’s kind of got into it as a result.
“There’s a thing called ‘Intuitive Eating’ which sounds a bit Gwyneth Paltrow/hippy dippy, but it’s based in scientific fact and research.
“It’s a philosophy of eating that makes you the expert of your body and its hunger signals.
“Essentially, it’s the opposite of a traditional diet. It doesn’t impose guidelines about what to avoid and what or when to eat. It’s listening to your body and eating food that makes your body feel good.
“So Ronnie’s started realising, like me, that this stuff actually works. It’s just small practices that you can include in your daily life that make you happier.”
She added he’s now ‘boring’, and prefers watching TV and going out for dinner – and the rock and roll days are ‘well and truly over’.
Ronnie, who has six world titles, has been long regarded as the sport’s most naturally gifted player.
In his mid-20s, he ended up in rehab, suicidal and was treated for drug addiction.
The dad-of-three says he fancies giving something back after snooker, possibly working as a carer or a drugs and alcohol counsellor.
