Who is Laila Rouass? Ronnie O’Sullivan’s fiancee is former Strictly and Holby City star

Ronnie O’Sullivan’s fiancée Laila Rouass is a British actress who has featured in some of the nation’s most loved programmes.

Born in Stepney, London to a Moroccan father and an Indian mother, Rouass actually spent part of the 1990s as a music television media personality for Channel V in India.

Best known for playing Bollywood actress Amber Gates in Footballers’ Wives from 2004-2006, as well as her year-long stint on Holby City between 2011 and 2012, she’s also made appearances in Spooks and Primeval.

In 2002, she made her debut on the big screen with a small part in The Four Feathers alongside the late Hollywood great Heath Ledger, while in 2009 Rouass finished fourth in Strictly Come Dancing with Anton du Beke.

Rouass started dating snooker superstar Ronnie O’Sullivan in the summer of 2012, and the couple got engaged in February 2013 after less than a year together, although they are yet to tie the knot.

The pair actually met when Rouass came to view O’Sullivan’s house, unaware of who the world snooker champion was.

The 49-year-old has a daughter, Inez, who was born in 2007 while she was in a relationship with former businessman Nasir Khan. After separating from Khan in 2008 she brought Inez up herself until they both moved in with ‘The Rocket’ in 2012.

O’Sullivan himself is a father of three; eldest daughter Taylor-Anne Magnus was born in 1996 while he was in a relationship with Sally Magnus, while he went on to have two more children, Lily in 2006 and Ronnie in 2007, with partner Jo Langley.

The pair split in 2008, eight years after meeting at Narcotics Anonymous, and four years before he met Rouass.

Meanwhile O’Sullivan’s eldest has publicly berated him for his role as a father, claiming that he has only met her 12 times, and never met her own daughter Zarah-Ann, Ronnie’s granddaughter.

In 2017, the actress was caught up in the Barcelona terror attack at La Ramblas in which 13 people were killed when a man drove a van into the crowded tourist street.

Rouass used her social media accounts to live tweet the horrific ordeal as she hid in a restaurant freezer.

She went on to post a video of helicopters circling the area, while claiming armed police were prowling the area looking for the suspect and hearing gunshots.

She later thanked restaurant staff for “staying calm and keeping us safe”.
