Three-time World Champion Mark Williams secured his spot in the final stages of the new Nirvana Turkish Masters with a 5-1 defeat of Reanne Evans in the qualifying round in Leicester.
Welshman Williams will be heading to the stunning location of Antalya on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast next month for the £500,000 world ranking event.
Breaks of 52 and 57 gave Williams the first two frames before Women’s World Champion Evans hit back to take the third. But British Open champion Williams then pulled away to take the last three frames with top runs of 52 and 62.
BetVictor Scottish Open champion Luca Brecel fired breaks of 117 and 102 as he beat Peter Devlin 5-1.
Germany’s Simon Lichtenberg came from 3-1 down to score an impressive 5-3 win over Mark Joyce, his top break 69. Cao Yupeng top scored with 71 in a 5-0 thrashing of Ryan Day, while Matthew Stevens saw off Farakh Ajaib 5-1 with a high break of 86.
